Apple's iPhone uses its own A-series processor, which is highly praised for its performance. Recently, Apple Computer announced that it intends to use its own chips instead of Intel chips, triggering market shocks. Some people believe that Apple Computer users are mainly creative workers. The software required for their work is compatible with the Intel X86 architecture and cannot be implemented with ARM architecture chips. Apple is not likely to change its mind.
Senior analyst Motek Moyen stated on the Seeking Alpha on the 9th (see here) that there are about 25 million creative workers worldwide, such as draftsmen, 3D modelers, video editors, etc. They need to use Photoshop, AutoCAD and other software. Software is compatible with the Intel X86 architecture, and Apple is unlikely to abandon Intel chips. The more likely explanation is that Apple Computer is developing new coprocessors rather than new CPUs.
According to the article, Wahsi Mohan, an analyst with Bank of America Merrill Lynch, estimates that if Apple Computer uses its own chips, it can save 40-50 dollars, and it is estimated that it can save 500 million US dollars a year. For Apple, 500 million US dollars is just a drop in the bucket, Apple's annual net profit of up to 48.35 billion US dollars last year, is unlikely to 500 million US dollars, annoyance of major customers.
If Apple really wants to build a suitable computer CPU, it must obtain X86 authorization from Intel. The problem is that X86 is an Intel Golden Chicken, and Intel is unlikely to nod.
ARM-based processor for computers, how exactly does it perform? The HP Envy x2 notebook uses the Qualcomm ARM-based "Snapdragon 835" processor and is equipped with the Win 10 operating system. TechSpot evaluation shows that the notebook equipped with Snapdragon 835 has a very unpredictable performance, and is accompanied by a number of performance charts (see Figure 3 here). Apple does not want to make such a mistake.
If so, why is this rumors? Fudzilla website speculated that this may be Apple's bullying tactics, intentionally releasing news, thereby exerting pressure on Intel to cut prices.
The Harvest XQ Global Winner system offer shows that Apple's R&D of its own computer chip was reported on the 2nd. On the same day, Intel's share price plunged by 6.07%. After that, the stock price gradually stabilized and rose by 3.47% on the 10th to close at 51.27.
